Event Description:
The GACC's New Year's Reception is our first annual event and our way of ringing in the New Year. High-level representatives of Germany and the U.S. will come together to enjoy prime networking opportunities and to receive insights from our keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Christoph Matthias Schmidt - German Council of Economic Experts, Chairman.
Christoph Matthias Schmidt is the current Chairman of the German Council of Economic Experts (Sachverständigenrat Wirtschaft) to which he was appointed in 2009. He is also President of the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, Germany and lectures in Economic Policy and Applied Econometrics at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany. His field of research lies in applied econometrics with a recent focus on macroeconomic questions related to energy, health, and labor market policy.
From 2011 to 2013 Christoph Matthias Schmidt was a member of the German parliamentary commission “Growth, Prosperity, Quality of Life” which was appointed to investigate views on prosperity and measures of wealth. He is also joint editor of the “German Economic Review” and the “Journal of Population Economics.”
The luncheon is organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.More than 150 participants – high-level representatives of German and U.S. firms and their guests – will come together to enjoy prime networking opportunities and to receive new economic insights from our keynote speaker.
