Name: Virtual Knowledge Exchange on Offshore Wind Deployment in the US and Germany
Date: June 8, 2020 - June 10, 2020
Event Description:

Offshore Wind Energy Intelligent Solutions Dialog

The United States are beginning offshore wind deployment from a favorable position, with the ability to take advantage of substantial technology learning, economies of scale and cost reductions achieved in Europe, and especially in Germany during the last two decades. German policy makers and energy players have a successful history of developing, installing, operating, and maintaining offshore wind projects. With 6.4 GW of grid-connected offshore wind capacity (27% of global capacity) Germany has established itself as leader in offshore wind development. While maritime spatial planning, deep waters, environmental concerns and grid connectivity have posed many challenges to Germany’s ambitious energy goals, technological innovation and constructive collaboration between the private sector and policy makers have made this successful transition possible.

With the goal to better understand and navigate a constantly evolving landscape of offshore wind farm needs, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) invites US stakeholders involved in the offshore wind industry to participate in a virtual transatlantic knowledge exchange from June 8-11, 2020. This virtual delegation trip is part of a broader scale effort to strengthen the energy cooperation between our countries, encourage the exchange of ideas, and to promote energy transition policy expertise.

US stakeholders will participate in an intensive online study trip format with webinars, presentations and Q&A with German experts.

Please find a list of the participating US stakeholders here.

This virtual delegation trip is supported by Germany's Energy Dialogue and organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) in New York, adelphi and the Renewables Academy (RENAC) in Berlin.
