He will focus particularly on how the incoming U.S. Congress\, as well as newly elected state leaders throughout the country\, might impact the tax and trade laws that implicate foreign companies doing business in the U.S.\n\n\n\nWesley Mathews brings over two decades of experience in business development\, diplomacy\, and finance to his role as President & Chief Executive Officer of Choose New Jersey\, the state's leading nonprofit economic development organization. Prior to assuming leadership of Choose New Jersey\, Mr. Mathews was a career diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service\, focused on strengthening U.S. economic and commercial interests\, including trade\, investment\, energy policy\, cybersecurity\, digital economy\, and telecommunications. He served at embassies and consulates in Germany\, India\, Saudi Arabia\, Pakistan\, and Nigeria\, as well as in Washington\, D.C. While at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin\, Mr. Mathews was Chief of Staff to the Ambassador current New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy with responsibility for the sanctions\, nonproliferation\, export control\, and development portfolios. In 2018 2019\, as a loaned federal executive to the New Jersey State government\, Mr. Mathews established the state's Office of International Trade and Investment at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. It is no coincidence that two of Choose New Jersey's international offices\, in Berlin and New Delhi\, are in cities where Mr. Mathews served as a diplomat. \n\n\n\nThis event is hosted in cooperation with Gibbons. This luncheon roundtable is limited to 20 participants and targets Executives in German American Businesses. X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:
